Autoctona Top Grid
This garment is a variation of the Autoctona Top.
Cropped top with wide shoulder straps.
U-shaped front and a deeper neckline on the back.
Unlined, to be worn layered on top of other light-weight garments.
This version has a see-through grid, a delicate effect resulting from a hand procedure, made by me in my atelier, aiming to create a second fabric version starting from the solid weave cloth.

Garment JourneyFrom the field, to the fabric and the final garment, I work close to each step of the manufacturing process. This allows me to be familiar with every single detail of the production to then create honest and conscious pieces, always approaching with a sustainable and ‘less waste as possible’ mindset.
1) The Alpago sheep is an autochthonous breed that lives in the homonymous Alpago hills (Belluno). Not long ago next to extinction, nowadays this native sheep is protected and looked after by local cooperatives that together with professionals from the textile industry, aim to support the recovery project of the wool supply chain and transform waste into a resource.
2) Essential to this step is the contribution of Lanificio Paoletti, a wool mill 35km away from the Alpago region, dedicated among other activities to carding, spinning, and weaving this type of fiber. This is where the wool from the field (the shepherd shear the sheep in summertime, between July and August), reaches the mill in soft bales and become yarns, shortening the distance from the origin of the raw material to the place of manufacture.
3) From here, the yarns travel 50km souther to reach a weaving mill that transform them into a cloth using ancient pedal handlooms.
4) The garments are tailored in an atelier based 20km away from the mill, using the models I’ve designed and prototyped in my atelier in Vicenza.
